About Us About Us

A Republic is Born, Ours to Fight For

Constitution     On September 17, 1787, our nation's Founding Fathers created one of the single greatest human accomplishments in world history: Our Constitution of the United States of America. Upon leaving the Constitutional Convention, a concerned women asked one of our Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin, what this new document had given us as Americans. Franklin immediately replied "A Republic Ma'am, if you can keep it." Franklin's candid reply illustrates the fact that the only way our republican form of government was to be upheld, would be for us citizens to fight for it, be directly involved in its protection and its preservation.

And thus our great nation was born, espousing a true republican form of government, where Americans voted directly for their representative in government, where the rule of law protected all citizens against tyranny of all forms. Each state within our United States of America is guaranteed a republican form of government under Article IV Section 4 of our Constitution. Although initially thought by the great philosopher and political thinker Charles de Montesquieu that a republican form of government would only work in a small territory, it was our Founding Father James Madison that correctly argued that it was sheer size that would safeguard our Republic. Our country, with its diversity of people and cultures, would keep competing interests in check and only permit the formation of a majority dedicated to justice and the common good. Our Republic has flourished amazingly since its creation and proved that indeed, a republican form of government is the best form in order to preserve our union, our individual liberty and freedom, and guarantee America's future greatness and prosperity.

Republic Becomes Oligarchy as a Few Misrepresent the Many

As our country's population grew, initially so did our people's representation, specifically within the House of CongressRepresentatives, the house within our Congress that was created to be specifically "of the people." One representative was to be apportioned within the House of Representatives for every 30,000 American citizens according to our Constitution. Soon, however, power-hungry tyrants whose self-interests would come before those of the people learned how to "game" our republican form of government, and our representation has since diminished. Within the House of Representatives, our representation has massively been reduced, currently standing at one representative for roughly every 800,000 American citizens, and continues to rapidly shrink as our population grows ever faster. The power of our elected officials has gradually been increasing over time, and as that power that once rested with the many is quickly usurped by the select "elite" few, our United States governmental system is looking less like a republic and more like an oligarchy with each day's passing.

Political family dynasties, career politicians, and corporate cronyism have begun to rule our government. At the same time, people's cynicism for that seemingly corrupt government has caused voter turnout to become extremely diminished. The decrease in representation coupled with the decrease in the number of people voting has now left our government, our country, in the hands of the elitist few whose only interest is to gain more power and wealth for themselves at the expense of everyone else's freedom and liberty. The doors of our government are slowly being locked, windows are being closed, with everything being done by these elitist tyrants to seal off any outside intervention from the general populous. Those in power will continue to do what is needed, without regard for law and order, to preserve the power and control they have unjustly amassed. If left unchecked, as in the final days of the Roman Republic, this tyrant led oligarchy will lead the way to Empire, where freedom is abolished and those that rule now by vote, will ultimately rule by force. We, the people, must act now while we still have the freedom to fight, while we still have the freedom to vote, in order to reclaim our government and restore our noble Republic, and fight, as the great Benjamin Franklin so eloquently put it, to "keep it."

Victory for "We the People" in LA County Will Spread Nationwide

American Flag     Restore the Los Angeles County Republic (Restore LA) is a non-profit, multi-partisan organization created to fight all forms of tyranny in our government today, allowing Los Angeles County to serve as our "ground zero" for the fight to restore our Republic. Because Los Angeles County is the largest county in the country, the success we have restoring a true republican form of government here will ultimately ripple throughout the country. By creating a model of how our Republic can be restored, other counties in other states throughout the country can use our model to affect true and lasting "bottom-up" change in their own backyards, reversing the current "top-down" process of decision making that is practiced in our government today. With a diverse population nearing 10 million residents, Los Angeles County represents a true microcosm of the difficulties and challenges facing our great nation today. If it can be done in LA County, it can, and will be done anywhere. We will set a national precedent in returning the government to the people that others will not be able to ignore, taking aim to fire the "shot heard round the world."

Restore LA will work diligently to root out corruption in government, to oust those tyrants that seek to usurp all power and wealth for themselves, that seek to destroy our republic and install an empire, those that wish to rule rather than serve the people. Restore LA knows that reclaiming our government cannot be done without the full support of "we the people." We will do everything possible to restore the faith of our citizens, show them that their vote not only matters, but is desperately needed in order to get our country back on track. We will seek out and support all candidates for public office that understand and honor their contract with the people that elect them, candidates that are true servants of the people and thus righteously uphold our republican form of government. We seek to end the notion of "career politicians" and replace them with part-time governance by, of, and for real people that are actually involved in the day-to-day activities of the communities they represent, and not simply rule from on high, becoming completely out of touch with their average citizen constituents.

Help us Restore the Los Angeles County Republic! Throw a rock in a pond and waves spread throughout that pond. Los Angeles County is our rock, our front line in the fight to restore a true republican, true representative form of government nationwide. Please stand with us to turn the tide in Los Angeles County, set an example for all to follow, and be the beacon of light and glimmer of hope our nation so desperately seeks. Together we will restore our nation's greatness, stand proud knowing that once again our United States of America begins with, as our precious Constitution does, "We the People."
